On Monday 4th March, Northamptonshire Health and Care Partnership will celebrate

the first day of National Apprenticeship Week 2019 with a county-wide

apprenticeship awards ceremony. This event builds on the success of the first

Apprenticeship Awards event that was held in 2018 and provides a fantastic

opportunity to celebrate the achievements of apprentices working across health and

care services in our county and to recognise the valuable contribution apprentices

make to health and social care, our patients and our communities.

As well as celebrating the success of individuals, this event also reflects the

importance of working in partnership to provide high quality health and care services

across Northamptonshire including Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation

Trust; Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust; Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS

Foundation Trust; St Andrew’s Healthcare; Adult Social Care and General Practice.

Apprenticeship programmes provide routes into a variety of careers and our county’s

health and care organisations are committed to offering apprenticeship opportunities

at all levels – both for new recruits starting out on their careers and also providing

opportunities for existing staff to develop and progress.

This celebration event provides a fantastic opportunity to showcase how valuable

apprenticeships are both for individuals and the NHS and social care as employers.

Our award categories include Team Working; Patient Experience and Personal

Achievement and nominations have been received which recognise the success of

apprentices working in many different job roles and settings across the partnership

network. These include: various healthcare roles; nursing associate; business

administration; chef; finance and engineering – demonstrating the many different

apprenticeships that are available across the NHS and social care.

The Apprentice Mentor and Apprentice Manager Awards also recognise the

importance of providing quality apprenticeship programmes and the right support to

enable individuals to develop and progress.

Our final award presentation will be to our Northamptonshire Health and Care

Partnership 2019 ‘Apprentice of the Year’. The winner of this Award will be selected

independently by Caron Bouckley, Workforce Transformation Manager for Health

Education England. In judging this award, Caron will be looking for the nomination

that really shines and demonstrates the achievements, qualities and behaviours that

exemplify an inspirational apprentice.

The keynote speaker for this event, Angela Hillery, Northamptonshire Health and

Care Partnership Lead told us:

“It is great to see the increase in the number of Award nominations this year and the

diverse range of roles that are represented by our award winners. It is fantastic to

have this opportunity to highlight the success and enthusiasm of our winners which

will hopefully inspire others to look at the benefits an apprenticeship can offer.”
