NRG Riverside is thrilled to announce that they have achieved Platinum status with the Mental Health Charter. This prestigious accreditation underscores their unwavering dedication to the mental well-being of their employees and highlights the success of a comprehensive Wellbeing Commitment.
Jenny Cook on the Importance of Mental Health Awareness
Jenny Cook, Chief People Officer at NRG Riverside, shared her thoughts on the significance of mental health awareness for the company:
“Our people are our most valuable asset. Their well-being is fundamental to the success of our business. Mental health issues can affect anyone at any age, and often, individuals suffer in silence because symptoms aren’t always visible. By raising awareness, we encourage open conversations about mental health, allowing our employees to seek support from colleagues or Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) when needed.”
Receiving the Platinum Membership
On receiving the Platinum membership, Jenny Cook expressed:
“We are elated! This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication we’ve put into our Wellbeing Commitment. We are extremely proud to be recognised by such a prestigious accreditation. It not only validates our efforts but also motivates us to continue enhancing our mental health initiatives.”
Advice for Other Organisations
NRG Riverside offers three key pieces of advice for other organisations embarking on their mental health awareness journey:
- Join the Mental Health Charter: Becoming a member of the Mental Health Charter is a significant first step. It provides a framework and resources to help you build and sustain effective mental health programs within your organisation.
- Implement Mental Health First Aiders/Champions within your organisation: Having trained individuals who can offer support and guidance to colleagues is crucial. Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA) are essential in providing immediate help and directing employees to appropriate resources.
- Raise awareness to demonstrate your commitment and support, encouraging open conversations about mental health: Regularly communicate the importance of mental health, share resources, and create an environment where discussing mental health is normalised and encouraged.
Mental Health First Aiders at NRG Riverside
Currently, NRG Riverside has 25 Mental Health First Aiders across our business, which means there is one MHFA for every ten employees. They plan to increase this number in 2024 by another 15, ensuring even broader support across the company. These First Aiders have been instrumental in their strategy, providing visible support and contributing to a happier, more supportive workforce.
Support from the Mental Health Charter
The resources and communications from the Mental Health Charter have significantly supported their development and awareness programs. They ensure they remain proactive with their initiatives and have the most current information to share with the team. Michael Lloyd, Founder of the Mental Health Charter, has provided invaluable assistance and encouragement. His support has been a cornerstone of their success, and they look forward to continuing this partnership with their new Platinum accreditation.
Future Initiatives and Commitment
At NRG Riverside, they are committed to fostering an environment where mental health is openly discussed and supported. This Platinum accreditation marks a significant milestone in their journey and are excited about the future initiatives they will undertake to further support their employees’ well-being. They aim to introduce new programs, enhance their existing support systems, and continually educate the workforce on the importance of mental health.
Their vision is to create a workplace where every employee feels valued, supported, and empowered to discuss their mental health openly. They believe that by maintaining a commitment to mental well-being, they can achieve greater productivity, job satisfaction, and overall success for both employees and business.
Obtaining Platinum status through the Mental Health Charter is more than just an achievement; it signifies their fundamental principles and unwavering commitment to their staff. They take great pride in this milestone and eagerly anticipate surpassing it by establishing new standards in mental health awareness and assistance. NRG Riverside remains resolute in its mission to lead the way in advocating for mental health in the corporate realm, guaranteeing that the well-being of the mind remains a top priority in our organisational culture.
