M&S, along with many other food and drink outlets, is delighted to announce they are re-opening their in store cafes today.

The retailer said in a statement:

“We are thrilled to announce that hundreds of M&S cafes across the England & Wales are welcoming back customers today to dine in, and we CAN’T WAIT.  These re-openings in England & Wales add to the 32 cafes in Scotland that have been open since 26 April in line with government guidance, meaning from Monday a total of 316 cafes across the three nations will be fully open to customers. 13 M&S Cafes in Northern Ireland will continue to offer takeaway drinks until they’re also able to reopen which is scheduled for later this month.

“We know our customers have missed visiting their local M&S café – whether it be for a family lunch, quick catch-up over a hot drink, or even just a change of scenery.  Our cafes offer M&S exceptional quality across the entire menu and providing a safe and enjoyable environment for those all-important catchups with loved ones.”

However, while some of the favourites will be back, M&S has used lockdown productively, reviewing every ingredient and every recipe on the menu, to ensure that they are offering the highest quality across the menus – so the experience will be even better than before.  A spokesman explains:

“Ensuring customers get the very best out of their return to our cafes, over the last few months we have looked at every ingredient, in every recipe for every product to ensure we are offer exceptional M&S quality across our entire menu.  Look out for newly upgraded favourites like our Oak Smoked British Bacon Ciabatta (£3.95) – freshly prepared and baked to order in-store, you’ll find SIX oak and beechwood smoked streaky bacon rashers sandwiched in a new ciabatta roll that’s beautifully crisp on the outside and busting with flavour on the inside.

“Our expertly trained baristas are on hand to whip up hot, cold and iced drinks of your choice.  We offer a selection of blends including the finest Single Origin Colombian Coffee in our vast selection of coffee-based drinks offering a fruity, rich and flavoursome taste.  We have dairy alternatives to milk available which are completely free to substitute and includes the ‘milk’ of the moment, Oat.

“But that’s not all – there are plenty of delights across our menu to keep an eye out for.  Newly introduced Frittatas (in selected stores), fresh and healthy summer salads like out Roast British Chicken and Santini Tomato, a new Passion Fruit Cake that will whisk you away to a summer paradise and an excellent children’s meal deal for the great price of £3.95 which includes a main, drink, piece of fruit and a snack. ”

The store has also put in safety measures at each store to ensure the safety of staff and visitors.

  • All customers dining in the Café over the age of 16 should check-in for the purposes of contact tracing. QR codes available at all café entrances, till points and tables.
  • Maximum 6 people per table.
  • Tables cleaned and sanitised after each use and spaced at least 1m apart.
  • Hand sanitiser available at the Café entrance
  • Cake dome-lids and serving tongs replaced every 30 minutes.

Cafes have varying opening hours and it is recommended that customers check in-store or online for details.
