London-based employment lawyer David Greenhalgh has joined national, new-model law firm Excello from Joelson, where he was a partner and head of the employment department.

David qualified in 1994 and has a background in heavyweight litigation gained in working on landmark legal cases including the employment case, Sunrise Brokers v Rodgers, and historically on the Omagh bombing civil action against the Real IRA and Almog v Arab Bank.

David acts for employers and senior executives from sectors including technology, financial & professional services, media, food & drink.

He advises employers on Covid-19 issues, senior exits, responding to grievances, pursuing disciplinary action, managing complex workplace investigations, enforcing restrictive covenants, defending tribunal claims, restructuring and redundancy planning.

He also acts for senior level executives where his expertise includes defending disciplinary proceedings/misconduct allegations (often with regulatory aspects), settlement agreements and negotiating high value exits (often involving equity), discrimination and whistleblowing claims.

David is listed as a Recommended Lawyer in the 2020 Legal 500 independent guide to the UK legal profession.

On joining the firm, David commented: “I am looking forward to getting back to the City and joining Excello Law and its London employment team. In the post Covid world, there will be many demands from clients looking for fairer value for their legal spend without compromising the quality of the employment law advice they receive. The Excello model allows me to deliver these more flexible solutions, supported by a national team advising across all areas of commercial law.”

George Bisnought, managing director, said: “David is a recognised, leading employment lawyer and we’re delighted to welcome him to the firm. With a busy and expanding national partner-level employment team, he will be a valuable asset to supporting our business growth across London and the South East.”
