Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (KGH) and Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust (NGH) are recruiting their first Group Chief Executive Officer in a first step to developing greater collaboration in the delivery of high quality, patient focussed care and enable better outcomes for local people.

The two Trusts are moving to a group management model to strengthen health services in Northamptonshire in line with the NHS Long Term Plan. The county’s population, already diverse and widespread population at c.700,000 people, is one of the most rapidly growing in England. Collectively, the two hospital Trusts have 1,440 beds, a revenue budget of over £500m and approximately 9,000 staff.

Moving to a group model, but retaining their existing boards, will enable KGH and NGH to integrate their clinical services whilst developing innovate approaches to streamlining pathways, with a clear focus on doing the right thing for patients.  Working together they will also design more effective ways to deliver corporate support services, harmonising processes across the two organisations.

Alan Burns, Chair, Kettering General Hospital NHS FT and Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust said,

“Conversations about collaboration began a few years ago and we are now at an exciting point in our journey with the recruitment of our first Group CEO. The Group has huge ambitions and, with major capital investment approved by the Secretary of State, the new CEO can begin reshaping the physical infrastructure, which will rival many of the most modern acute care facilities at a scale and attract the best talent in the market.”

“Delivering the new model and our ambitions for the future will require an exceptional CEO, most likely already working at that level and with a deep passion and understanding of how general hospitals operate and integrate with the whole health and social care system. In return, we offer a once in a lifetime opportunity to shape the future of health and social care provision in this part of the country and a legacy of creating a world-class estate.”

The new Group Chief Executive Officer will be primarily responsible for the strategic leadership and performance of both Trusts, including the achievement of quality, people, financial and performance standards. They will also provide strategic leadership to the transformation and design of the acute hospital collaborative programme. The salary is up to £220,000 per annum. The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Monday 9th March 2020 and interviews will be held 9th April 2020.
