Leading Welsh brewer and licenced hospitality retailer S.A.Brain & Co Ltd has this week announced that it has appointed Kate Ablett to a brand new role as Head of People.

Ablett joined Brains earlier this year after a long and successful career in HR in the retail sector most notably with Sainsbury’s. She will be taking responsibility for all aspects of people strategy within the company as well as direct day-to-day management of the people function.

Brains, which employs some 3000 people across its central functions and 104 managed pubs across Wales, has recently re-located to a new facility in Cardiff Bay where it is currently building a brand new brewery.

Commenting on her appointment Kate said

“I’m delighted to be taking on this fantastic role at such an exciting time for the business. We’ve recently appointed a new CEO and with the move to our new offices and production site there’s a real buzz around the company as we look forward to the challenges ahead. Traditionally this is an industry where people, people development and training can make a real impact to the success or failure of an organisation and I’m determined that we will be setting an example in the years ahead.”

Brains’ Operations Director Jon Bridge added,
